Joe Grande started selling Christmas trees from Novia Scotia, Canada, with his father at the age of 9 in the City Line area of Brooklyn, which began his life long passion for the Christmas tree industry.  At the age of 14, Joe worked in the florists of down town Wall Street learning the business and sharpened his skills in understanding the needs of the retailers by recognizing the importance of decoration and presentation to sell a product. With his earlier experience in the industry, Joe Grande started J.G. Brands, a family run business, at the age of 18 and traveled out to the farms of Quebec, Canada searching for grown trees and brush to sell to retailer and wholesalers of the New York area. For over 40 years,  J.G. Brands has since flourished and expanded its search for the perfect Christmas tree.  Joe Grande has traveled through the United States and Canada in search of the greenest and freshest trees and wreaths for our customers.  We have visited such locations as Quebec, New Brunswick, Novia Scotia, North Carolina, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Oregon, Washington State and Tennessee.  J.G. Brands sells all varieties of beautiful trees, which include Fraser Fir, Balsam, Nobel Fir, Novia Scotia, and Douglas Fir.  We were one of the first companies to import Douglas Fir from Pennsylvania and Oregon and introduced it to the New York retail market.

What makes J.G. Brands unique is it is a family operated business.  It is also ran by Joe's wife Rose, son-in-law John, daughter Karen and son Sal, as well as his grandchildren, John and Jackie.  The newest generation of family members has helped push the company forward by learning the business and help adapt ideas of incorporating the use of computers to expand the business and reach new customers year after year.

We work 9 to 10 months before the Christmas season which begins in November and December, in preparation for improving and changing with the times.  We are always striving to top ourselves and continue to find new products that retailers will be able to sell in their respective market. Our number one priority is creating a strong business relationship with our clients and making sure that they are always pleased and satisfied.  Because at the end of the day, that is what is the most important to us.  We take pride in knowing that we can help make the holiday season that much more enjoyable to those who want a quality cut Christmas tree in their home.

J.G. Brands previous wholesale yards were formally located in Jamaica Queens and Franklin Square.  We have been now located in a two acre wholesale yard in Bellerose, Queens for 15 years.  Our wholesale yard offers easy access to all major boroughs of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, making it accessible to all our costumers through out the area.

Joe Grande has contributed an article to the Summer 1998 edition of Christmas Tree Lookout called, On The Firing Line:1997;Comments and Opinions on the Inner Workings of the Selling Season.
